== Generation ==
The [[Draft:Temple of Set|Temple of Set]] supplies the normal encounter with its high priest. The office can also appear in [[Draft:Mansions|mansions]], wilderness encounters and random historical-NPC summons. Newly generated priests receive their symbols even if another copy exists. The offered symbol may be in inventory or the pack; identification and prior authorization are not required for the offering. Choose '''Pray''', not the separate Sacrifice command. Set's final advancement accepts alignment at most +1 and requires a character level above the incumbent's record, along with the [[Draft:High priests#Becoming high priest|Senior Priest requirements]]. Beneficial use requires an identified, authorized scarab and Set as current patron; the symbol's blessing or curse does not change these conditions. It costs no mana, does not consume the symbol and does not expend a finite charge supply. It provides healing of up to 100 HP, removes blindness, poison and disease, uncurses equipped items and restores mana to at least the normal maximum. The six kinds share their last-use clock hour. Reusing during that same 24-hour clock hour destroys a symbol and leaves 1 HP; waiting until the same hour on a different date does not reset it. Known unauthorized or wrong-patron use can instead destroy accessible possessions, drain mana and reduce HP to 1. == Strategy ==
An Odin follower should plan the hostile temple encounter and preserve positive alignment for promotion afterward; a successful theft moves alignment toward Chaos. A Set follower seeking a usable scarab should pursue Odin's symbol and the promotion, not repeatedly identify or bless a replacement taken from Set's own priest.

Track the [[Draft:High priests#Handling the symbol|shared hour]] before relying on the scarab for emergency mana. Another symbol cannot bypass it, and ordinary prayer does not reissue a lost authorized copy once you already hold the office.
