The projectile stops on a creature or other obstruction. The resulting explosion then checks all nine squares without an additional line-of-fire test between its center and each affected square. == Strategy ==
Prefer a fireball when several susceptible enemies can be caught away from you. For one target, a firebolt has a higher raw damage range, although it must hit. Neither is useful for HP damage against a fire-immune creature such as the fire elemental that supplies this wand's recipe.

Fire immunity lets you withstand the blast's fire damage, but does not make every tactical consequence harmless: the blast can wake or anger other occupants and change nearby water. Additional blessing does not protect allies or spare selected squares.
