The High Priest of Athena is the recorded leader of Athena's priesthood. The initial holder, Allana, is a spellcaster carrying the Holy Symbol of Athena, initially seen as a Gold Owl Pendant. Hecate's Senior Priests require this symbol for promotion, and Druids can also offer it to become Archdruid.[1][2][3]
| Initial holder | Recorded level | Combat level | HP | Attack strength | Armor class | Base melee damage | Kill XP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Allana | 10 | 9 | 220 | 9 | 5 | 9 | 180 |
Encounters
Allana's main temple is the Parthenon, northeast of Rampart at world coordinates 51, 11. Search north of its central altar for the concealed westward passage to the priest's northwestern chamber. The temple begins peaceful for Athena's followers and hostile to outsiders.
The same office can also be selected for a mansion or an encounter through wilderness generation or summoning. Mansion residents start hostile even to followers of Athena. Shared high-priest rules cover these sources, holy-symbol handling and the effect of a player's promotion on later temple generation.
Allana's low melee damage does not describe the main threat. When hostile and able to see you, this initial priest can cast spells that damage or disable you, curse or destroy equipment, drain levels or disintegrate you, subject to the normal magic-resistance check. Personal conversation gives ordinary remarks, not altar services. Successors' recorded behavior may change their abilities.[4][5][6][7][8]
Succession and strategy
As Athena's Senior Priest, bring the Holy Symbol of Hecate to Athena's altar and exceed the incumbent's recorded character level. The initial threshold is level 11. The final promotion grants Hellfire, +5 current and maximum Power and an authorized Symbol of Athena.
Hecate's followers and Druids may seek Allana's carried symbol instead. Theft can avoid a kill, but reaching an already hostile spellcaster is still dangerous. A friendly temple can be a useful place to obtain a symbol before changing careers; worshipping another deity has its own sacrilege consequences.
Killing Allana grants no priesthood and does not lower the recorded promotion threshold. Keep an acquired symbol for its quest and do not activate it merely because it has been identified: a stolen symbol has not been authorized for the player.[9][10][11][12][13]
