The scroll of enchantment improves a chosen item or adds charges to it. A cursed copy is identified as a scroll of disenchantment and may strip powers from equipped gear.
Effects and interactions
| BUC state | Result |
|---|---|
| Blessed | A chosen non-artifact gains +2 enchantment and, when chargeable, 2d10 charges. Blessing adds no further benefit. |
| Uncursed | A chosen non-artifact gains +2 enchantment and, when chargeable, 2d10 charges. |
| Cursed | Chooses equipped gear and may reduce it to +0, remove one charge, and strip its activated power. |
An uncursed or blessed scroll gives a chosen non-artifact +2 enchantment and, when it can hold charges, 2d10 charges. Blessing adds no further benefit. A highly enchanted target may explode in a mana storm. An artifact instead regains a lost activated power or causes a mana storm whose strength depends on the reader's level. A cursed scroll chooses equipped gear and may reduce it to +0, remove one charge, and strip its activated power.
If money is selected, the amount changes by a random percentage instead. An unsuitable cursed target may escape unchanged, and cursed items or artifacts may merely flicker rather than become mundane.
Strategy
Use uncursed enchantment on a target whose +2 gain or added charges justify the explosion risk. Avoid pushing already highly enchanted equipment without accepting a mana storm. Unequip unique activated gear before testing a possibly cursed copy.
