Ambrosias' Potions et cie. is the alchemist's shop in Rampart. It buys certain monster remains or, for a fee, transforms them into specific magic items. Despite the shop's name, there is no ordinary potion catalogue to buy from: the useful ingredient is the corpse or monster part you bring.

Selling and transforming remains

Read the shop sign to discover its city-travel destination. Choose a to offer monster components for sale, or b to pay for transformation, then select the remains. Both services accept the same species: a part Ambrosias refuses to buy also has no transformation here.

A sale pays one third of the remains' base value, rounded down, and consumes one item. Transformation costs twice that base value, with a minimum of 10 Au. It replaces the selected remains with the product in the table below. The transformation menu concerns the remains, not the player's body or attributes.

Ordinary products are blessed, and equipment whose base enchantment is zero receives an enchantment equal to the source species' monster level. Wands, rods, staves and other charged sticks receive 20 charges. Products with an existing enchantment keep it: the vorpal sword is +5 and firestar is +7. Demonblade is the exception to the blessing rule: it keeps its severe curse. Transformation does not include a full identification service.

Bring a single ingredient per selected stack when preserving duplicates matters: transformation replaces the selected stack with one product, rather than transforming each member separately. An ordinary monster's death does not guarantee that it leaves remains, so obtaining the ingredient can take more than one kill.

Strategy

Check a useful ingredient's transformation before selling it for a small sum. Manticore spikes, for example, sell here for only 6 Au but become a 20-charge staff of missiles for 40 Au. Salamander scales provide a predictable fire-resistance ring, while later remains can supply highly enchanted armor, rings and cloaks.

The shop connects naturally to Arena progression: salamanders, manticores, spectres and jabberwocks appear in its fixed opponent sequence. The named arena challengers leave remains on a normal kill, providing potential extra rewards beyond the prize money; collect them before leaving. Ordinary unnamed versions only have a chance to leave a corpse. This does not make the fights themselves safe.

Do not transform quest evidence you still need. The Heart of the Eater of Magic is required for the Collegium Magii's Archmage promotion; turning it into a staff or selling it consumes the heart.

For cash alone, compare Knight's Pawn Shop, whose ordinary offer for fully known remains is half their value, or the Thieves' Guild's member fencing service at two thirds, rather than the alchemist's one third. Ambrosias' distinctive benefit is the predictable transformation, not the highest price for an unprocessed trophy.

Trivia

Ambrosias performs the transformation with a tap of the Philosopher's Stone. The name comes from the legendary alchemical substance associated with turning base metals into gold or silver; Omega applies it to the decidedly less elegant business of converting monster parts into adventuring equipment.
