The High Priest of the Lords of Destiny is initially Humperdinck, a silent melee fighter carrying the Holy Symbol of Destiny. Its unidentified appearance is a Blue Crystal Pendant. Unlike the rival-symbol quests of other faiths, Destiny requires its own incumbent's symbol for the player's final priestly promotion.[1][2][3]
| Initial holder | Recorded level | Combat level | HP | Attack strength | Armor class | Base damage | Kill XP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Humperdinck | 10 | 7 | 220 | 21 | 5 | 35 | 140 |
Encounters
Humperdinck's main temple is the Halls of Fate, in the far southeast at world coordinates 49, 59. The priest is in the northwestern chamber beyond the concealed passage north of the central altar. The approach is separate from the easily reached altar in the Rampart Pantheon; joining Destiny in the city does not transport you to the main temple.
The temple initially becomes nonhostile for Destiny's followers. The office-holder can also appear in mansions, wilderness encounters and random historical-person summons. Mansion generation starts the priest hostile even to a fellow worshipper. The shared high-priest rules describe symbol generation and the effect of player succession on later temple inhabitants.
Humperdinck does not offer a special spoken service; the initial recorded personality is silent. The nearby abyss in the temple belongs to the route toward adept status, not to a conversation with the high priest. Later office-holders can have different conversations and combat abilities.[4][5][6][7][8]
Succession and strategy
As a Senior Priest of Destiny, obtain a Holy Symbol of Destiny and pray at a Destiny altar at a character level above the incumbent's record. The initial threshold is level 11, with no alignment requirement. Killing Humperdinck is not required: a successful theft in a peaceful temple can supply the symbol without changing the incumbent.
The final promotion grants an authorized Symbol of Destiny and +5 current and maximum Power, despite the deity's dismissive dialogue. It grants no additional spell. Replacing the priest by killing instead gives no title and leaves the recorded level intact; the randomly named replacement is a spellcaster.
The symbol stolen from your own priest is still unauthorized. Do not activate it after identification until promotion has transformed it. A matching patron alone does not make the stolen object safe.[9][10][11][12][13]
