A frost demon lord is a powerful, non-unique demon with three electrical melee attacks, cold bursts and high-level spells. Its sigil is an alchemical source of Demonblade; the ordinary demon does not carry that weapon.[2]
Generation
Frost demon lords belong to ordinary random-monster pools and dedicated selections in the deep Astral Plane and HellWell Volcano. They are initially hostile, with no fixed item and zero to four random possessions.[3]
Abilities
The lord opens doors, makes three melee attacks for a raw 0–39 electricity damage each, and has three defensive actions. Its snowball deals a raw 0–39 cold damage across the affected area. Ordinary ranged opportunities extend from distance three through nine. It is immune to cold, poison, fear and sleep, but not electricity or fire.[4]
The demon ability can frighten a low-level player or cast a spell. At level eight it has fifteen equally likely spell choices, including dispelling temporary benefits, physical disruption and draining eight character levels. That level-drain effect does not check negative-energy immunity. It does not yet have the high thaumaturgist's disintegration choice.[5]
When the ability runs at 2–39 HP, it reduces the lord to 1 HP and attempts to summon two hostile demon serpents beside you. Each summon needs an unoccupied floor square. Healing can make the response possible again.[6]
Safe food pacifies a hungry lord, but this does not suppress its fear or wounded-summoning responses; only the spell branch additionally requires hostility. Poisonous food fails to hurt its poison-immune recipient and uses up the hungry response without removing hostility.[7]
Sigil
Normal death drops possessions and has a 50% chance of leaving a frost demon lord's sigil. The sigil is inedible. Ambrosia buys it for 166 Au or charges 1,000 Au to turn the selected stack into one +8, cursed (−8) Demonblade. The weapon's existing curse survives conversion; the service's usual blessing applies only when the destination item has neutral blessing.[8]
Strategy
Food can stop ordinary attacks and spells, but does not make a wounded lord entirely safe. When fighting, distinguish electricity in melee from cold at range, and account for level drain and equipment loss even if both elements are covered. Avoid prolonging the last 39 HP of the fight near open floor spaces.
The alchemical weapon is strongly enchanted but remains dangerously cursed. Review Demonblade's behavior before equipping it; paying for conversion does not turn it into an ordinary blessed weapon.
