The LawBringer is the unique figure at Star Peak who accepts the Star Gem. His living role serves the lawful route; his crown is sought by the Circle of Sorcerors.[2]
Encounter
He stands at (39, 7), carries a Defender, starts without hostility and uses ordinary melee if angered. The carried sword does not replace his listed monster combat ratings. His special dialogue and special-action identifiers have no implemented action in this version; use Give for the Gem rather than waiting for a conversation quest prompt.[3]
Giving the Star Gem
Use Give while adjacent, with a noncursed Gem. Throwing does not deliver it: although he carries a Defender, his zero treasure allowance makes him ignore thrown gifts.[4]
| Effect | Result |
|---|---|
| Star Gem | Consumed |
| Alignment | +200 toward Law |
| Power | Current and maximum both become twice the previous current value |
| Experience | +2,000 |
| Previous expulsion from the Order | Restored to its first membership rank |
| Remaining imprisonment | Cleared |
The gift records completion for the Order's later promotion check. It does not require a particular alignment or a prior conversation, and the gift's effect does not itself clear the LawBringer's hostility. Another Gem can trigger the same gift effect again; the delivery flag is not a one-time reward gate here.[5]
The Power rule is based on current Power. Giving the Gem while heavily drained can leave the new maximum lower than the previous maximum. Restore current Power first when that distinction matters.[6]
Crown and death
Normal death drops his Defender and creates the LawBringer's Crown, his unique remains. A High Sorceror whose character level exceeds the incumbent Prime's recorded level can bring the Crown to the Circle for succession; it is consumed, and the new Prime learns disintegration and gains ten current and maximum Power. The ceremony calls it the "Crown of the Lawgiver", but checks this same creature's remains.[7]
Death marks Star Peak for empty subsequent visits. It does not count as giving the Gem, and eliminates this recipient from the ordinary peak placement.[8]
Strategy
Preserve him until any intended Gem delivery is complete. If fighting for the Crown, use damage that can affect physical immunity; increasing an ordinary weapon's damage does not bypass it. His lack of other innate immunities offers alternatives, but a successful attack still provokes a dangerous melee opponent.[9]
