The scroll of acquirement is a scroll in the Omega 0.90.4 remake. It appears as a bright-yellow ? until its shuffled inscription is identified. Its cursed appearance is scroll of destruction.
Generation and appearance
Once item generation has selected the scroll class, it chooses uniformly among all 24 scroll IDs and copies the selected definition. The class definitions are neutral by default. Thirty unidentified inscriptions are shuffled at game initialization, so the visible label does not reliably identify this type between games.
Data and mechanics
The definition has base value 5000, item level 7, weight 5, fragility 1, and the COMMON flag. The base value is the definition value, not a promised shop price. Reading is unavailable while blind or afraid; cancelling the inventory prompt spends no scroll, while successful dispatch normally consumes one.
| BUC state | Result |
|---|---|
| Blessed | Lets the reader choose a category and then an exact listed item; the created item is fully identified. |
| Uncursed | Creates a random item from a category chosen by the reader. |
| Cursed | Destroys a random equipped possession; does nothing when no eligible item exists. |
Effects and interactions
An uncursed scroll asks for an item category. A neutral copy creates a random item in that category; a blessed copy also lets the reader choose an exact listed item and creates it fully identified. A cursed copy destroys a random equipped possession, or does nothing when there is no eligible item.
The wrapper changes the consumed scroll into a blank scroll before acquisition so inventory mutation cannot invalidate it. Available categories include potions, scrolls, rings, sticks, armor, shields, weapons, boots, cloaks, food, and things; artifacts are not a normal choice.
Strategy
Blessed acquirement is far more controllable than neutral acquirement, so preserve a blessing source when a specific item would solve a run. Before risking an unknown copy, remove irreplaceable equipment; cursed destruction draws from equipped possessions.
