Omega 0.90.4

The Arena Champion is the reigning gladiator of the Rampart Coliseum. The supplied initial champion is Spartacus. Defeating the champion in an official match and leaving victorious awards the title and Victrix, the champion's spear. A champion encountered away from the arena uses the ordinary historical NPC's abilities and offers no shortcut to that prize.

Initial Spartacus Arena match Ordinary historical NPC
Combat level 20 7
HP 700 220
Attack strength 80 21
Armor class 30 5
Base damage 180 35
Experience for the kill 500 140
Starting possessions Disposable garage-door opener None

These values use Spartacus's initial recorded character level of 10. Attack strength and base damage are combat parameters; the arena's 180 damage is not a fixed HP loss on every action.[1][2]

Challenging the champion

Register with the Gladiators' Guild and win the fixed sequence of matches through the jotun. The next match is against the champion while you remain an active gladiator below champion rank. Unregistered fighters, expelled gladiators and reigning champions receive random opponents at that point instead.

The title fight uses a special arena combatant. For an incumbent recorded at character level L, the final arena values are 5L2 + 200 HP, 8L attack strength, 3L armor class, 150 + 3L base damage and 5L2 experience for the kill. The combat level remains 20. In actual melee the champion uses one ordinary attack and one block per action sequence; a higher recorded level does not add more attacks. The previous player's recorded choice of fighting style does not turn this opponent into a spellcaster or archer.

The champion carries a small grey box with a red button, the disposable garage-door opener, but does not carry Victrix. After winning, collect and activate the box to raise the portcullises, then leave by the arena exit. The victory pays 2,000 Au and awards the +10 Victrix spear, records your name, level and behavior, and makes you champion. The title and spear are awarded on leaving, not at the instant of the kill. Games marked as cheated do not write the shared history.

An incumbent recorded at level 40 or higher exposes a defect while the title fight is being prepared. An original-code experiment at level 40 detected memory corruption while constructing the attack sequence. The resulting match is not reliable; this is not a verified tactic or a guarantee of a particular crash in every executable.[3][4][5][6][7]

Encounters outside the arena

The ordinary champion can be selected as a notable mansion resident, or appear through wilderness encounters and summoning. The historical-NPC summon selects a random recorded person rather than a chosen office, and ordinary dungeon population excludes these NPCs.

In a mansion the champion starts hostile, sleeping if generated at night. Outside mansion and hostile-summoning overrides, an Arena membership record makes the ordinary champion initially nonhostile; even an expelled gladiator's record qualifies. Attacking can still provoke combat.

The initial ordinary Spartacus fights in melee and gives ordinary greetings, jokes or dismissive remarks. Successors can have different abilities and conversations based on their recorded behavior. This version receives neither the arena's bonuses nor its door opener, and has no special starting possessions.

Killing an ordinary champion causes a sports columnist to photograph the corpse and a randomly named successor to take the office. It does not count as an arena victory, award Victrix or make you champion. The recorded character level remains unchanged, so it does not weaken a later title match.[8][9][2]

Strategy

Prepare for the title fight as a substantial step beyond an ordinary human encounter. Its damage and attack strength are high even with the initial history, and its HP grows quadratically with the recorded incumbent's level. Be ready before agreeing to enter: leaving without a victory costs a gladiator membership and remaining Gym credit, as described on the Coliseum page.

Do not plan to steal Victrix or obtain it by hunting Spartacus in a mansion. The reward requires the official victory and exit. Conversely, an ordinary champion's modest initial combat values do not describe the opponent waiting in the arena.

Trivia

Spartacus shares his name and gladiatorial role with the historical leader of a slave revolt against Rome. This supports the allusion without identifying a particular film or other adaptation as Omega's source. Spartacus[10][1]
