Draft:Rampart City Cemetery
The Rampart City Cemetery is the narrow burial ground beside the western edge of the hedge maze. Its northern sign reads "Rampart City Cemetary. Closed -- Full." The spelling is the game's; the sign does not actually bar entry.[1]
Layout and inhabitants
Enter from the southwest corner of the gardens. A series of doors and a narrow passage lead south, then east into the deeper burial chamber. That final chamber contains a statue, undead and four treasure sites, each receiving one generated item. The treasure is not a fixed cash reward.
The cemetery has four lesser-undead positions, each choosing a ghost or haunt, and four greater-undead positions, each choosing a lich or vampire lord. They begin asleep and non-hostile. These are nonetheless real creatures with their normal abilities, rather than scenery; haunts and vampire lords can also be invisible. Do not mistake an apparently empty corridor for a guarantee that nobody occupies it.
The statue uses the same city bashing outcomes as those in the gardens. Its position inside the burial passage makes a new hostile creature especially awkward to get past.[2][3][1]
Strategy
The treasure tempts an early detour, but provoking high-level undead in a cramped passage is much more dangerous than visiting a shop. Moving into a creature's tile is a combat action; its initial lack of hostility does not grant free passage through it. Ghosts and vampire lords can move through obstacles, so doors are not a universal answer either.
Use awareness of the occupants and an escape option before venturing into the inner chamber. Neither the cemetery's warning sign nor the ordinary city-travel menu describes the full danger, and the graveyard has no dedicated travel destination to carry you directly to its loot.[4][5][6][7]
