The scroll of the warp is a scroll in the Omega 0.90.4 remake. It appears as a bright-yellow ? until its shuffled inscription is identified. Its cursed appearance is scroll of the warp.

Generation and appearance

Once item generation has selected the scroll class, it chooses uniformly among all 24 scroll IDs and copies the selected definition. The class definitions are neutral by default. Thirty unidentified inscriptions are shuffled at game initialization, so the visible label does not reliably identify this type between games.

Data and mechanics

The definition has base value 100, item level 3, weight 5, fragility 1, and the COMMON flag. The base value is the definition value, not a promised shop price. Reading is unavailable while blind or afraid; cancelling the inventory prompt spends no scroll, while successful dispatch normally consumes one.

BUC stateResult
BlessedInside a dungeon, accepts a valid chosen depth; positive blessing adds no modifier.
UncursedInside a dungeon, accepts a valid chosen depth; an invalid choice deflects to a random valid depth.
CursedInside a dungeon, always deflects to a random valid depth.

Effects and interactions

Inside a dungeon, an uncursed scroll asks for a destination depth and changes level when the number is valid. An invalid depth is deflected to a random valid depth. A cursed scroll is always deflected to such a random depth regardless of the entered number.

The scroll has no effect outside a dungeon. Positive blessing does not extend the valid range or otherwise modify travel. Uncursed use identifies the type before the dungeon guard and prompt.

Strategy

Use an identified uncursed copy for deliberate vertical travel. Keep an escape plan for the arrival level. A cursed or invalid request gives up control over depth, so testing an unknown copy can make navigation worse rather than better.
