A scroll of true sight lets the player see invisible creatures and counter certain visual deceptions. Its cursed form blinds the reader.
Generation
True sight is an item-level-2 random scroll, also available at the pawn shop and through acquirement. At Ambrosias, phantasticon's eyes normally cost 20 Au to transform into a blessed copy. A rakshasa's corpse gives the true-sight effect when eaten, providing a different route to the status.
Description
Noncursed use adds a uniformly random 1–10 true-sight units. Positive blessing and enchantment do not increase this duration. The counter normally loses one unit at each ten-minute status update. Cursed use adds 1–10 blindness units instead; it does not simply switch off true sight. Both kinds of reading identify the scroll type.
True sight permits normal display of otherwise invisible creatures and removes the hit penalty for attacking an invisible target. It also prevents the particular surprise routine that relies on the player not seeing an invisible attacker, and counters some illusion and blindness attacks. It does not itself map the level or display every creature beyond line of sight.
Strategy
Prepare true sight before fighting invisible opponents, rather than relying on guesswork about their positions. A ring or cloak of true sight can replace repeated scroll use, while monster detection supplies a temporary map of creatures without necessarily solving subsequent visibility and combat penalties.
Keep a separate cure for blindness. An already blinded player cannot read even a noncursed true-sight scroll, and this effect does not directly clear the blindness counter. A healing potion or curing potion can provide that recovery. Do not spend blessing resources merely to lengthen an already noncursed copy.
