Draft:Lord of Law
The Lord of Law is the holder of the game's record for the most Lawful ending alignment. The initial holder is Ariel. This history can produce a physical NPC in encounters such as Rampart's mansions. The Lord of Law is a different figure from the LawBringer associated with the Order of Paladins.[1][2][3]

Encounters
Ariel can be selected as a mansion's notable resident, or appear through wilderness encounters and summoning. The Hiscore NPC summon chooses a random recorded person rather than a specified office, and ordinary dungeon population excludes this NPC type.
An ordinary Lord of Law begins nonhostile toward a player with positive alignment. Mansion generation overrides that disposition: the resident starts hostile, sleeping if generated at night. Hostile summoning can also override the alignment-based peaceful start. A shared alignment does not protect the player after provoking a peaceful person.
The initial Ariel fights in melee with attack strength 21, armor class 5 and base damage 35, and is worth 140 experience. Base damage is not a guaranteed loss on each hit. There is no special starting possession or paladin-service dialogue: the initial NPC gives ordinary personal remarks. Future holders' recorded behavior can produce other fighting styles and conversations.[2][4][5][6]
Taking the record
The record is checked when a non-cheated character ends a game at level 1 or higher. Ending alignment must be strictly greater than the stored Law record: against the initial value, +101 qualifies and +100 does not. Neither a higher character level than Ariel's nor a new overall high score is required.
Death, quitting and victory or retirement can all trigger the check. A qualifying alignment reached temporarily during play does not immediately install you. The successful record stores your name, ending level, alignment and behavior for later encounters. It awards no current-game guild rank or special item.
Killing a physical Lord of Law replaces the name with a random successor and changes the recorded behavior, but preserves the level and alignment record. It does not award you the title or reduce the threshold for a later character.[7][8][9][10]
Strategy
Pursue the record through your ending alignment, not by seeking Ariel for a duel. Charitable donations are one available source of Lawful alignment, with their own level-dependent costs and limits; the title itself supplies no new service to fund those donations.
The Archdruid's complete neutralization would remove a qualifying positive alignment before the ending check. In a mansion, remain prepared for hostility even if you are a paladin or otherwise strongly Lawful.
