The hand-axe is a compact one-handed cutting weapon in Omega 0.90.4. Its base damage 8, +10 hit, and weight 25 make it an efficient early weapon.[1]
Generation and appearance
It is a common level-1 random weapon and can also appear as pawn-shop stock or through weapon acquirement. Its unidentified, identified, and cursed names are all hand-axe.[2][3][4][5]
Data and mechanics
A hand-axe weighs 25, has base damage 8, grants +10 hit, and has a base value of 50 Au. It has fragility 15 and leaves the ready hand free. Random BUC determines the sign of its starting plus.[1][3][6]
Effects and interactions
The standard cut adds Strength-based damage, and the hand-axe can lunge. It may be thrown and recovered after landing, or used to tunnel with the ordinary cutting-weapon risk. It cannot perform a riposte.[7][8][9]
Strategy
The hand-axe is one of the most efficient level-1 choices. It matches the short sword's damage and weight but gives up only 1 hit, and it clearly outperforms an equally enchanted cutlass in hit and weight. Keep a positive-plus copy until a broad sword or stronger one-handed weapon offers enough extra damage to justify the burden.[10][7][8][9]
