A hint sheet is a scroll that supplies one of Omega's in-game hints. It changes no item or character statistic directly.[1]

Generation

Hint sheets belong to the item-level-0 random-scroll pool and may appear at the pawn shop. Acquirement also includes them. They have a shuffled inscription rather than an immediately recognizable appearance.[2][3][4][5]

Description

Reading chooses one of 96 messages with equal probability and consumes the sheet. The messages cover locations, tactics, equipment, magic and humorous observations. They are selected independently of the player's current problem or knowledge, so duplicates and irrelevant hints are possible. Curse, blessing and enchantment do not change the selection.

The hint operation does not itself record the sheet's type as identified. Recognizing a hint message is therefore an inference the player can make, not the same as full item identification.[6][7]

Strategy

The sheet is most useful while discovering the game without consulting spoilers. A known sheet can be read even if cursed, subject to the ordinary reading restrictions. It is not a source of spells, map revelation or stat improvements, and should not displace an emergency consumable from an accessible slot.

Omega also delivers hints through conversations and services. A single message is not a personalized instruction to act immediately: investigate its conditions, especially before experimenting with artifacts or dangerous locations. The suggestion about the higher form of mercury, for example, points toward Azoth, whose safe preparation requires both enchantment and blessing.
