Victrix is the Arena Champion's prize spear, appearing as an ivory spear. It is a one-handed weapon with +10 enchantment and blessing strength +10, exceptionally high base damage and three immunities while used. Its named identity does not place it in the separate artifact item category.[1]
Obtaining
An official gladiator who wins the championship encounter and leaves victorious receives Victrix from the Coliseum. The reward is created at the award, not carried by the opponent. Defeating that opponent without official gladiator status does not award the championship or spear.[2]
Victrix is one of the three weapon definitions excluded from ordinary random-object generation. Acquirement bypasses that filter: a blessed acquirement can select it from the weapon catalogue, and the weapon constructor retains the fixed +10 enchantment and +10 blessing. This route means the unique-generation flag is not a universal one-copy guarantee. Item level is 10 and base value 5,000 Au; Julie's does not sell it.[3]
Attacks and immunities
A landed attack instantly destroys a spirit-melee target such as a spectre or vampire lord. Other targets receive an ordinary physical damage roll using the spear's large damage contribution. Physical immunity still stops that ordinary branch; Victrix is not a universal unstoppable-damage weapon.[4]
Using Victrix fully identifies it and grants immunity to poison, fear and infection. Removing it withdraws those contributions. The equipment effect does not clear already existing poison or disease statuses. It also makes blessing nonnegative whenever applied, without separately repairing a negative enchantment.[5]
Disenchantment can strip the equipment immunities and reset enchantment, while leaving the spirit-killing attack intact. Ordinary subsequent enchantment does not use the artifact-specific restoration rule because Victrix is a weapon.[6]
Other uses
Throwing a spare Victrix can still destroy a spirit-melee target. The ordinary thrown-damage branch, however, uses current character damage rather than independently adding the spare spear's 100 base damage. Throwing the used spear also removes the immunities it supplied before the attack resolves.[7]
For tunneling it contributes 200 before the random roll because its thrusting base damage is doubled. This is powerful excavation, but a tunneling mishap can still damage a thrusting weapon; enchantment does not increase the contribution.[8]
Strategy
Victrix offers high damage at the same weight as an ordinary spear and leaves the ready hand free. It rewards completing a difficult arena route, but its three immunities do not cover fire, cold, acid or every form of life drain.
Keep an alternative such as a mace of disruption or acid whip for physically immune opponents outside the spirit-melee exception. At its initial +10, further normal enchantment has a 45% explosion chance per attempt; that is a substantial risk to a prize already strong enough for ordinary combat.[9]
