The great-sword is a two-handed cutting weapon in Omega 0.90.4. Its base damage 20 is among the highest of the ordinary weapons, at the cost of accuracy, weight, and use of the ready hand.[1]
Generation and appearance
It is a common level-5 random weapon. Guardsmen and rakshasas carry great-swords, providing additional sources. Its unidentified, identified, and cursed names are all great-sword.[2][3][4][5]
Data and mechanics
A great-sword weighs 75, has base damage 20, grants +7 hit, and has a base value of 400 Au. It has fragility 15. To receive its combat bonuses, the player must place the same great-sword in both hand slots.[1][3][6]
Effects and interactions
Its standard cut adds Strength-based damage, and it can lunge. It cannot riposte. The weapon can be thrown or used to tunnel, but a readied cursed copy occupies both hands and cannot be removed until its curse is lifted.[7][8][9]
Strategy
Use a great-sword when raw damage is worth losing the ready hand. The great-axe adds 4 more damage at the same +7 hit, but weighs 25 more; the katana deals 4 less damage, grants 3 more hit, and preserves a hand. A guardsman's or rakshasa's copy can provide this tier of damage without waiting for a favorable random drop.[10][7][8][9]
