Accuracy is a spell that promises improved aim but fails to grant the intended hit bonus in Omega 0.90.4. Its bullseye message does not mean your attacks have become more accurate.[1]
Learning
Athena teaches accuracy at Priest rank, at 1,500 priesthood XP. Odin teaches it at Senior Priest rank, at 4,000. The preceding rank and each faith's alignment requirement still apply.[2]
It also belongs to the common random research and Knowledge-wish pools, and is taught by identified Kolwynia.[3]
Effects
For an initial 20 mana, accuracy prints its success message and records a nominal duration of 1–5. That recorded effect is disconnected from the working accuracy bonus used in combat. Even the combat-stat recalculation performed by the spell does not repair the mismatch. The usual +20 hit bonus associated with working accuracy equipment is therefore not supplied by this spell.[1]
Potions of accuracy share the same defect. A cloak of skill can supply the working bonus through a different effect, although its duration handling has a separate defect. The failure of the spell is not evidence that every accuracy source fails.[4]
Strategy
Do not spend combat mana on accuracy expecting a better hit chance. Learning it as part of a priestly promotion does not make the rest of that promotion useless, but it should not be the reason to choose that route.
Heroism provides a working hit bonus based on Dexterity, together with damage and defense bonuses. Use actual combat statistics to compare those alternatives. The missing accuracy bonus is established from the source; this spell has not received a separate in-game casting test during this article's preparation.
