An air elemental is a fast, intangible flying attacker with four physical melee attacks. In Omega 0.90.4 it does not produce a whirlwind attack: the assigned whirlwind special ability has no implemented action.[2]
Generation
Air elementals belong to ordinary random-monster pools and the dedicated Astral Plane of Air selection. They are initially hostile and carry no ordinary possessions.[3]
Combat and movement
The elemental makes four physical attacks, each with a raw 0–19 damage roll, and has two defenses. Its two-tick interval is fast. It flutters, flies over water and can pass through walls because it is intangible. These movement abilities do not confer normal-damage immunity.[4]
It is immune to electricity, poison, acid and sleep, but not fire, cold or physical damage. It has no functioning ranged or special attack and no hungry or greedy pacification response. Map whirlwinds are separate terrain effects, not an additional attack supplied by this creature.[5]
Essence
Normal death has a 50% chance to leave essence of air elemental. It is inedible. Ambrosias buys it for 66 Au or charges 400 Au to turn the selected stack into one blessed +6 cloak of invisibility. This cloak supplies invisibility while worn; it is not a cloak of displacement.[6]
Strategy
Ordinary weapons can damage it, but four attacks at a short interval make repeated contact costly. Physical protection addresses its actual attacks; electricity protection does not replace that defense simply because the creature is associated with air. Fire and cold bypass its innate immunities, while sleep does not.
A wall or pool cannot be relied on to hold it away. Once defeated, its lightweight essence offers a useful invisibility source at a known conversion cost.
