A blipper is a normally peaceful creature that teleports around its current level. Its organ can teleport the player directly or be transformed into a blessed teleportation scroll.[2]

Generation

Blippers occur in ordinary random pools and in the sewer population table. They carry no fixed item, but can receive zero or one random possession at ordinary generation.[3]

Teleportation

A blipper has no attacks and one defensive action. It has no ordinary movement action; its special action relocates the awake creature to an empty place on the same level. It remains in play and retains its possessions. This differs from monsters that vanish permanently.[4]

The special check normally occurs on half of its pulses while awake and within four squares, even if peaceful. Sanctuary suppresses it. The blipper has no innate immunity and is not hungry.[5]

Blipper organ

A normal death has a 50% chance of leaving a blipper organ. Direct use of an ordinary unblessed organ teleports you to a random empty location on the current level and provides no food. At Ambrosias, 50 Au transforms it into a blessed scroll of teleportation, which allows destination selection, subject to the spell's valid-floor check. Selling one organ yields 8 Au; transformation replaces the selected stack with one scroll.[6]

Strategy

A blipper does not need to be chased for safety. Its 50 HP and repeated relocations can make hunting it time-consuming despite its inability to attack. An organ is useful as an escape consumable, but random teleportation can strand you away from the route you know. Alchemy trades money for destination selection; keep the organ distinct from ordinary food and split stacks before transformation.
