The Holy Symbol of Destiny is the Blue Crystal Pendant artifact carried by the High Priest of Destiny. Destiny's final promotion requires this same religion's symbol. An authorized copy supplies reusable healing, cleansing and mana recovery; unlike the other ordinary promotion routes, Destiny also has a low-level ritual source of an already authorized symbol.[1]

Generation

The Temple of Destiny is the predictable encounter with the priest. The office can also appear in mansions, wilderness encounters or random historical-NPC summons. Each newly generated priest receives a pendant even if an earlier copy exists. A normal kill drops possessions; a successful ordinary theft takes the first carried object, usually the pendant before other loot is acquired. A copy taken from the priest is initially unauthorized, even for a Destiny follower.[2]

The initial kind is excluded from ordinary random loot, normal acquirement and automatic pawn-shop stock. The authorized versions come from promotion or the ritual below, not ordinary identification, blessing or charging.[3]

Ritual source

A successful ritual in a chamber with a blue crystal omega dais can give a Destiny follower an identified, authorized pendant before becoming High Priest. This is a random dungeon room, not the blue crystal altar at Destiny's main temple.[4]

Requirement Condition
Patron Destiny
Character level 10 or lower
Priesthood rank Below Senior Priest
Existing pendant No Symbol of Destiny in either inventory or the pack, including unauthorized copies
Ritual completion Pass the normal concentration and last-hour checks; the last ritual room kind must not already be this kind

The ritual takes time while other actions can occur, and merely finding the room does not bypass its completion checks. It creates a new item instead of authorizing an existing pendant. Already carrying one, or being Senior Priest or higher while still level 10 or lower, changes the Destiny branch to an experience award. Above level 10 the room instead invokes an Adept challenge, so this is not a late-game replacement service.[5]

High-priest promotion

As a Destiny Senior Priest, carry a Symbol of Destiny in inventory or the pack, exceed the incumbent's recorded level and choose Pray at a Destiny altar. The initial incumbent's recorded level is 10, requiring level 11 or higher. Destiny has no alignment condition. Use prayer rather than the altar's separate Sacrifice command, and distinguish the recorded level from the priest's combat level.[6]

The offered pendant becomes one identified, authorized Symbol of Destiny. A ritual-granted pendant can serve as the offering too: the check does not require stealing from or killing the current priest. Separate a stacked offering if you want to retain spare copies. Promotion grants +5 current and maximum Power and the office, but no additional Destiny spell. The ritual alone grants none of those promotion rewards.[7]

Activation

Use A → a with an identified, authorized pendant in accessible inventory while Destiny is your current patron. High Priest rank is not itself checked, which lets the ritual reward function earlier. The symbol costs no mana or finite charge, is retained, heals up to 100 HP, removes blindness, poison and disease, uncurses equipped items and restores mana to at least its normal maximum. Healing is not necessarily complete, and unused pack items are not uncursed.[8]

All six kinds share one last-use 24-hour clock-hour marker. Repeating that hour shatters a symbol and leaves 1 HP, even on a different date if no intervening use changed it. A known unauthorized or wrong-patron copy can destroy accessible possessions, drain mana and reduce HP to 1. Unknown use doing nothing does not prove the identified version safe. Full details are in Handling the symbol.[9]

Strategy

The ritual route can provide recovery earlier than the normal succession quest, but requires both ritual access and a suitable room before exceeding its level and rank limits. Do not identify a stolen pendant and assume it has the same authorization as that reward; carrying the stolen copy also prevents the ritual from issuing a new one.

Preserve an early authorized pendant for the later promotion as well as routine recovery. Once you already hold the office, prayer does not automatically reissue a lost one, and the low-level ritual conditions are no longer a dependable fallback. Keep another recovery source for the shared-hour interval and after a change of patron.[10]
