Prismatrix armor is light magical body armor with a high built-in enchantment and protection from fire, cold and electricity. In the infobox, p is the individual suit's enchantment.[1]
Generation
Prismatrix armor can be found among randomly generated treasure, including the random possessions of treasure-bearing monsters, and may appear in Knight's Pawn Shop. A noncursed acquirement effect can create body armor; a blessed effect lets you select this type, but the resulting item's blessing and enchantment still follow its own generation rules.[2][3][4][5]
It is not part of Julie's fixed stock.[6]
Description
Wear it in the Armor slot. Its normal-damage absorption is 7; its contribution to defense is your enchantment minus 2. These are different protections: enchantment makes you harder to hit but does not increase absorption. See Defense and protection for the damage floor, burden and attacks that bypass armor.[7][8]
It grants fire, cold and electricity immunity while worn, including when cursed. Acid, poison, life drain and other magical effects require their own protections.[9][10]
Ordinary generation and acquirement produce +9 when uncursed, +10 when blessed, or -10 when cursed. The resulting defense contributions are +7, +8 and -12 respectively. The high enchantment does not increase its seven-point absorption.[11]
The type's visible name does not reveal every copy's enchantment or curse. Its magical power can also be stripped by a mundanity effect without changing that name; being blessed is not a guarantee against every way of losing protection.[12][13]
Strategy
A noncursed suit combines seven absorption with a positive net defense contribution: +7 when uncursed and +8 when generated blessed. That is especially attractive when heavy armor would slow you. Its existing +9 or +10 enchantment makes further enchanting dangerous, with a 40% or 45% explosion chance respectively. A cursed -10 suit keeps its elemental immunities but imposes -12 defense; do not treat those immunities as a reason to ignore identification.[14]
Compare all body armor and shields when assembling your defenses.
