A ricochet is a very fast flying monster with erratic movement and a weak physical lunge. It can take an additional fluttering step during its nearby special action.[2]
Generation
Ricochets belong to ordinary random-monster pools. They begin hostile and have no possessions, feeding response or greedy-gift response.[3]
Description
Its movement interval is 1. It uses the flutter movement pattern both for ordinary movement and for its extra special movement; the latter adds a step rather than a fixed eight-square burst. Flight permits crossing water, but it is not intangible.[4]
The ricochet has one lunge and no defensive actions. Its raw physical damage is only 0–1, though ordinary physical damage can still cause the minimum one HP when it is not prevented. It has no innate immunities or ranged attack.[5]
Normal death has a 50% chance to leave an inedible dead ricochet. The remains have no alchemical transformation.[6]
Strategy
Its speed makes disengaging awkward, but it has only 50 HP and no elemental or physical immunity. A direct attack or applicable disabling effect is generally more promising than expecting a water obstacle to contain it. Its many opportunities to act should not be confused with the damage of a heavy high-level attacker.
