| Cursed name | Ring of delusion |
A ring of self-knowledge displays a character report when equipped noncursed. It reveals information about score, alignment, conditions, immunities and ranks rather than granting a lasting combat bonus. A cursed ring of delusion produces only a message of ignorance instead of the report.[1]
Generation
It is an item-level-0 random ring, available in ordinary loot, pawn-shop stock and acquirement. Its enchantment, blessing and appearance follow ordinary ring generation, despite the power not scaling with enchantment.[2]
Description
Noncursed equipping opens the knowledge report. Removing the ring produces no report; equipping it again can show an updated one. It does not consume charges or mana, although the inventory operations used to equip it take time. Higher enchantment and stronger positive blessing do not add information.[3]
| Report section | Information |
|---|---|
| Points and alignment | Current point total and a descriptive alignment category |
| Conditions | Names of the listed active statuses, such as poison, regeneration, levitation and true sight |
| Immunities | Listed immunities whose current contribution totals are positive |
| Ranks | Organization ranks, relevant guild experience and selected progress such as arena opponent or nobility quests; religious affiliation and Adept status |
The report is not a numerical countdown display or an item-identification service. Its immunity list does not include every internal damage category, so an omitted category outside the list is not proof of vulnerability. Poison, fire and gaze immunity are among the categories it does report.[4]
Cursed equipping says that you feel ignorant; it does not create a fabricated statistics report or reduce Intelligence. Applying the power reveals this particular ring's identity even when cursed, but only noncursed use establishes the type for other copies. This is not full identification of its curse and enchantment.[5]
Strategy
Consult the report after a significant equipment or status change, especially when checking whether a listed immunity remains active. For example, a poison-ring curse incident can leave the ring's apparent condition and actual protection out of agreement; the knowledge report checks the current immunity total.[6]
A noncursed ring need not remain equipped after you read the report. Reclaim its slot for another power and wear it again when another report is useful. Establish curse status first: a cursed copy supplies no report and still blocks ordinary removal. A self-knowledge scroll provides the same kind of information without occupying a ring slot, but is consumed.[7]
