Draft:Thaumaris
Thaumaris is the northwestern village at world coordinate (7, 6), beside the river and south of the Archmage's Castle. It contains the Mindstone, which can increase maximum Intelligence.[1]
Local map
The complete 64 by 16 layout of Thaumaris is shown below; @ marks arrival at (32, 15).
These are spoiler maps. Coordinates are (column, row), starting at zero. Letters and highlighted symbols are article keys for sites and initial placements, not a literal game screenshot or a promise that a creature remains there.

Arrival and village
Arrival is at (32, 15) on the southern boundary. Many open boundary cells return to the countryside. The village has all five shared services among 24 doorways, and four sheep in the western commons; it has no fixed merchant, horse, granary or guard placements.[3]

Coordinates within the village use its own 64 by 16 grid.[4]
Mindstone
The opaline crystal asks whether you will look away. Answer no to continue the attribute-stone cycle. Unlike Law and Chaos, this stone has no alignment that accelerates progress. At the cosmic glow it adds up to ten to maximum Intelligence, normally capped at 30, without raising current Intelligence.[5]
The older spoiler collection places the Intelligence stone in Whorfen. In 0.90.4, Thaumaris is village 4 and receives the Mindstone; Whorfen instead has the Voidstone.[6][7]
Strategy
Thaumaris can supply an expedition toward the castle, but it cannot supply a fixed village horse. Find the healer, food shop and tavern before starting a Mindstone cycle. The promise of Intelligence growth must be weighed against its possible loss of a known spell, equipment damage, disease and teleportation. The absence of fixed guards does not make stone use harmless.
Stepping onto a countryside exit leaves the village. An outdoor return rebuilds the village but preserves Mindstone progress.[8]
