The battle-axe is a one-handed cutting weapon in Omega 0.90.4. It provides base damage 12 and +8 hit without occupying the ready hand.[1]
Generation and appearance
It is a common level-2 random weapon and may also be sold by the pawn shop or granted through weapon acquirement. Its displayed name is always battle-axe.[2][3][4][5]
Data and mechanics
A battle-axe weighs 50, has base damage 12, grants +8 hit, and has a base value of 100 Au. It has fragility 15. Random blessed copies start at +1 or better, uncursed copies at +0 or better, and cursed copies at -1 or worse.[1][3][6]
Effects and interactions
Its standard cut benefits from Strength and it can lunge. It may be thrown or used for tunneling, but it cannot riposte. A positive plus improves both combat scores and can be lost while absorbing an item-damage attempt.[7][8][9]
Strategy
The battle-axe is usable but has close competitors. A broad sword deals the same damage with 1 more hit and 10 less weight, while a mace exactly matches its damage, hit, and weight and is safer during tunneling. Prefer the battle-axe when its plus is better than those alternatives or when it is the first damage-12 weapon available.[10][7][8][9]
