The cutlass is a one-handed cutting weapon in Omega 0.90.4. It has base damage 8 and +8 hit, but is heavier and less accurate than several other early weapons.[1]
Generation and appearance
It is a common level-1 random weapon and may also appear through the pawn shop or weapon acquirement. Its name remains cutlass before identification and in blessed, uncursed, or cursed form.[2][3][4][5]
Data and mechanics
A cutlass weighs 35, has base damage 8, grants +8 hit, and has a base value of 40 Au. It has fragility 15 and leaves the ready hand available. Generated plus modifies both hit and damage.[1][3][6]
Effects and interactions
Its standard cut gains Strength-based damage. The cutlass can lunge, be thrown, and tunnel, but it does not enable riposte or receive the thrusting digging multiplier. A readied cursed copy cannot be removed until uncursed.[7][8][9]
Strategy
Judge a cutlass mainly by plus. At equal enchantment, a hand-axe has the same damage, 2 more hit, and 10 less weight, while a short sword has the same damage, 3 more hit, and 10 less weight. An early positive-plus cutlass can still beat an unenchanted alternative because plus improves both of its combat scores.[10][7][8][9]
