A jelly baby is a small food item that adds two food points. Its low value and weight make it a modest snack or an inexpensive offering to a hungry creature.[1]
Generation
Jelly babies are item-level-0 random food, possible in pawn-shop stock and through noncursed acquirement. Newly generated copies are unblessed. Their fixed appearance already uses the true name.[2]
Description
Eat consumes one and adds two reserve points, with the ordinary minimum result of zero for a starving character. Blessing and cursing do not change the nourishment. A starting reserve of 46 or below avoids overeating. Its taste message is random and is not a separate harmful effect.[3]
An ordinary hungry non-horse creature can accept a jelly baby through feeding. The small meal clears that hunger just as a larger safe food would; the creature does not require a particular number of nutrition points. Greed or need can take priority over hunger.[4]
Strategy
Use jelly babies for small top-ups or cheap feeding. They provide twice the nourishment per weight of twinkies, but still require more carried units than concentrated nutritabs for a long expedition. One small snack is not a large buffer against repeated travel checks.
