Teleport is a spell that immediately relocates you to a randomly found floor square on the current local map. It does not let you choose a destination or change dungeon depth.[1]

Learning

Teleport belongs to the common random research and Knowledge-wish pools, and is taught by identified Kolwynia.[2]

Effects

The initial cost is 20 mana. The destination search accepts a floor square without a monster or concealed-location flag. It does not require you to have visited that square or to have a walking route to it. The search does not rank destinations by distance from enemies, and does not explicitly exclude your current square.[1]

The spell uses ordinary random teleportation. Other teleport effects can use a controlled-target branch or a dangerous negative branch that may place the player in solid terrain; those are not the parameters used by this spell. Casting teleport never opens a destination cursor.[3]

Teleport changes position on the same map. For changing depth, use the warp or Return. The ordinary countryside command set does not provide direct spellcasting.[4]

Strategy

Teleport can break an encirclement or move you beyond an obstacle without waiting for Return's countdown. Its random landing is the tradeoff: it may put you near another threat, leave you close to the original one, or fail to create the distance you need.

Cast before fear or an exhausted mana reserve removes the option. Use monster detection or clairvoyance afterward when you need to understand the new surroundings. Do not rely on teleport as a guaranteed exit from the map.
