The morning-star is the strongest ordinary one-handed striking weapon in Omega 0.90.4. It provides base damage 16 and +7 hit while preserving the ready hand.[1]
Generation and appearance
It is a common level-5 random weapon and can also appear in pawn-shop stock or through weapon acquirement. Its unidentified, identified, and cursed names are all morning-star.[2][3][4][5]
Data and mechanics
A morning-star weighs 60, has base damage 16, grants +7 hit, and has a base value of 150 Au. It has fragility 15. Random blessed, uncursed, and cursed copies begin with positive, nonnegative, and negative plus respectively.[1][3][6]
Effects and interactions
Its standard strike gains Strength-based damage and it can lunge. It cannot riposte. The morning-star may be thrown and makes a dependable tunneling tool because its striking attack type avoids the special tunneling damage check.[7][8][9]
Strategy
The morning-star matches a katana's base damage while giving up 3 hit and adding 10 weight, but it is safer for repeated tunneling. It also preserves a hand unlike the higher-damage great weapons. Choose it when one-handed damage and excavation reliability matter more than maximum accuracy.[10][7][8][9]
